THE CHALLENGE
Join the Broadlands Recycling Club and take the challenge to make Broadlands one of the greenest neighborhoods in the state. If you have already joined, update your commitment to include some of the new actions! For every household that joins we will donate $1.00 to the Broomfield Open Space Foundation and send you a thank you for joining.
RECYCLING ACTIONS
Choose three of the following seven actions and show your commitment to saving our country's natural resources for future generations!
- Action: Commit to grasscycling or mulch mowing this summer.
- Action: Commit to bringing your tree and limb prunings to the Broomfield Recycling Center.
- Action: Commit to setting up a compost bin in your back yard
- Action: Commit to recycling at least 7 additional pounds per week.
- Action: Recycle all of the cardboard, paperboard, and junk mail that you use in your house.
- Action: Talk to a neighbor about recycling and what you can do.
- Action: Use a re-useable canvas type bag when shopping.
ENERGY ACTIONS
Choose three of the following seven actions and show your commitment to reducing energy use and saving our country's natural resources!
- Action: Turn up your thermostat by one degree this summer.
- Action: Contact Xcell Energy and get a home energy audit (for more information see below)
- Action: Take one 5 minute or less shower per week
- Action: Install one Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL).
- Action: Use power strips to turn off computers and electronics.
- Action: Turn off your car if you are idling for more than 30 seconds.
- Action: Commit to using cold water to wash at least half your landry loads.
